Cherry Blossom Wedding at the University of Glasgow and the Bothy
Spring in Glasgow is always a treat, and this micro wedding was no exception. The ceremony took place at the University of Glasgow, just as the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. We took a slow wander around the grounds after, stopping for portraits under the cloisters which are always such a favourite spot. The soft light and spring colour made everything feel even more magical.
Shooting a wedding for good friends is always a little extra special. This day had such a calm, easy feel to it — the kind of atmosphere you get when you keep things simple and focus on what matters. I shot a mix of digital and 35mm film, and those film frames really brought something timeless to the gallery. The spring tones came through beautifully on the analogue, especially around the blossoms.
After the ceremony, everyone made their way over to the Bothy in Glasgow’s West End for the reception. The sun held out long enough for relaxed drinks in the beer garden and some very good watermelon cocktails. It was all very laid back, just people enjoying each other’s company with no pressure.
Dinner was inside the Bothy, with soft lighting and lots of laughter. Days like this really show how lovely a small wedding can be. If you’re planning a micro wedding in Glasgow and love the idea of film photography, the University of Glasgow and the Bothy make such a great combo — relaxed, full of charm and always photogenic.
